I’d sort of grown tired of TV shows with anything less than 45 minute episodes, so the 20 mins each kinda put me off. I mean how much can really be done in 8 episodes of 20 minutes? surely you’re going to get little to no character development, no real, deep meaningful relationships and a pretty shitty story line?
HOW ABOUT NO!
‘James is 17 and is pretty sure he is a psychopath. Alyssa, also 17, is the cool and moody new girl at school. The pair make a connection and she persuades him to embark on a road trip in search of her real father.’
Honestly, I thought this little show was great. I got through it all in one sitting and it played just like a movie.
Alex Lawther was born to play a psychopath and I wanted to punch Jessica Barden in the face every time she spoke …. in a good way.
It’s just so witty, well written and bloody heart breaking at the same time. It twisted and turned in ways I didn’t expect and the fact that I was gripped enough to get through it all in one go says a lot (usually I start playing a game on my phone and lose interest after a few episodes of binge watching).
It was also nice to see Yara Greyjoy from GOT and Super Hans from Peep Show pop up here and there.
It’s funny because there’s moments in the show that you think would be shocking, but a lot of the time it ends up being the unexpected moments that turn out the weirdest. (Soooo cryptic)
9/10 – This type of show probably won’t be for everyone and heck I wasn’t sure it would be for me, but it’s the love story I’ve been waiting for.
